Decorates :-)

I was asked by a friend to create some jewelry for her five year old niece for Christmas. That of course led to my head bursting with sparkly fun pieces that had to come out. So many possibilities that I created a new shop section. When my daughter was very young, she called any ornamentation whether it was jewelry, cupcake sprinkles or glitter glue, "decorates". I really wanted to call my shop section for little girls "decorates" but in my continuing effort to not seem too peculiar (how am I doing?) I just called it Little Girl Sparkles, but anyone who has seen this really should just read that as Decorates ;)

10-10-10

It's 10/10/10 today. Seems like a portentous date, doesn't it? It is my sister's birthday and my father-in-law would have been 95 today. Other than that, it seems like a day pretty much like any other. Still it seems worth noting somehow. Consider it noted. I'm also going to note how pretty my pond and surrounds look today.

Farmer's Market

My Farmer's Market Finds Today
We have such a beautiful farmer's market here. I just love the Saturday morning routine of loading up on fresh organic fruits and vegetables, listening to local musicians while sipping Egyptian coffee, and perusing the various craft booths. And on this crisp autumn morn the sun came out just in time for my stroll through the booths. Is there anything more beautiful than the autumn lighting on the Palouse? I don't think so.

A New Bedtime Story

Tonight I went to a reading by Brigid Pasulka the author of A Long, Long Time Ago and Essentially True. She recently won the Hemingway Foundation/ PEN award. It is an award that is given to a novel or book of short stories by an American author who has not previously published a book of fiction. So the Hemingway Festival is going on here and this was one of the events. I love hearing a book read by its author. It gives such a personal touch to the reading experience. I find that I hear the author's voice as I'm reading the book. As though the writer of the words is inside my head lending their voice and inflections to the story. I'm pretty excited to read this book. Brigid did a wonderful job of reading a segment of what promises to be an enchanting tale. Click the link if you're curious. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

So Many Ideas So Little Time

While I was walking my dog I suddenly remembered these disks I crocheted a couple of years back. By the time I got home all kinds of ideas had occurred to me of how to utilize them. I am pretty excited about getting a completely different look up in my shop. I've only been open for a couple of weeks and haven't really had much traffic. Still I like the idea of having a lot of different things for potential shoppers to look at. I know I like variety, the sampler plate always appeals to me :)

Morning Coffee on My Deck

Another beautiful morning on my deck. This little hummer better get started south. There are so many cute hummingbird feeders available these days that people hang them up without realizing that the little birds become dependent on them and sometimes get confused about what time of year it actually is.

The Pink Slipper Project

I made these slippers for The Pink Slipper Project
The thing about crochet is that it is something you can do while you watch tv or while you wait for whatever you have to wait for or while riding in planes, trains or automobiles. It is so portable.

I've got another pair almost completed and then I will send them off. Check out the link above the picture to find out more about The Pink Slipper Project. Free slipper patterns abound on the web. This one can be found right here:
