This is the view out my window when I'm sitting at my computer. Between clicking on websites that lead to other fabulous websites and interesting blogs and fun tutorials and then to die for recipes and pictures so beautiful I get lost in them and then just daydreaming out the window...

On the Way to Spain

Red Rose Crochet Necklace

This necklace is on it's way to Spain. That just makes me happy. Flamenco dancers twirled in my imagination as I made it. I only wish I could deliver it in person. Spain is pretty high up on my list of places i want to visit before I die. The thing that would make a visit to Spain perfect for me, is to know someone when I got there. Being a tourist is fun but it certainly has it's limitations. The places I have seen with a native are the best travel experiences. Getting to see things from the perspective of someone who knows  from  personal connections is really getting to experience them. You know if I ever get to Spain, I'll tell you all about it :)

Happy Hundred!

I hit the 100 sales mark in the shop. I wanted bugles to sound or confetti to fall or something. Nothing happened. It was another one of those invisible on the internet even though it's up for the whole world to see moments. I really like the anonymity of selling on the internet, just every once in a while it seems a little too sterile.Then my daughter called to congratulate me and that really was all I needed :)

And -- it's spring!!

It's Wedding Season

I saw this book in my wanderings on the internet. I was so amused I had to share. I kinda want the book. I even kinda want to knit my own Royal Wedding :)

Still Winter Here

Woke up this morning to a couple of inches of snow on the ground again. I'm beginning to think this winter will never end. A few years ago we had snow on the 10th of June. The daffodils are up and want to bloom. I'm definitely in their corner cheering them on but I'd hate to see them bloom and then get frozen.

Cherry Blossoms

Just got back home from 12 days in Washington D.C. It's actually spring there. Flowers are blooming. I came back to very gusty wind and sideways rain. I hope it will be spring here soon, but for now, we can all enjoy these pictures I took of the cherry blossoms :) Congratulations to Jacqueline who won the Spring Blossom earrings!

Singin' The Blues

I seem to be in a blue mood. I keep being drawn to the blue parts of my stash. Maybe it's because the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival was just in town . Maybe it's because winter has drug on for soooo long. Maybe I just like blue :) In any case I just placed an order from http://www.etsy.com/shop/mermaidglass for some beautiful handmade lampwork glass beads that I can't wait to start playing with. So get ready for even more blue!!

What comes of Dreams

My little Swedish grandmother was the queen of baking in our family. She was always making cookies, and cinnamon rolls and made the best jelly roll ever! Her freezer was full of tins of baked goods and if there wasn't something fresh from the oven there would for sure be something pulled from her stash in the freezer. For Christmas one year she made me an entire nativity set of beautifully iced sugar cookies all neatly packed in a shoe box. So one time she had a dream that she used jello instead of sugar in her cookies and she woke up and made the most delicious pink cookies we called  "Gramma's Dream Cookies". When I was small I thought that was a very weird thing to dream about. The other night I dreamed that my grandmother was crocheting roses and handing them to me and I was stringing them into chains. In the dream they were changing into real flowers as I strung them. I woke up inspired to make this line of jewelery. Some of the best things come from dreams :)

Flower Girls

My mother used to make me and my three sisters all new dresses for Easter. Between my mom and my gram we always had new dresses, gloves, hats, jewelry and new spring shoes. I designed this bracelet after one I had when I was very small. It was the first one I made for my Little Girl Sparkles Section in my shop. I recently got an order for 3 bracelets for the flower girls in one wedding. Doesn't that sound adorable. I don't think I've ever seen a wedding with more than one. I kind of wanted to ask for a picture but I didn't know if that was creepy. What do you think?

New Shop Section

I've had a couple requests for clip on earrings. It took a while to find clips that I was happy with. I don't put anything in my shop that I wouldn't wear. I had to look for a while to find any that were  of good enough quality not to be rough and to look good. Then I wore some around the house for a while to make sure that they stayed on and that they were comfortable. I finally ended up with some in both silver and gold tone that I'm quite happy with. Then the fun part began as I started to actually make the earrings. Clip on styles are not readily available everywhere and I'm hoping there will be a market for mine. I spent some time this morning creating the new section and getting them posted. If you click the post title  -"New Shop Section" - it will take you there :)

I Love a Nice Sunset

We've been having the most glorious sunsets lately.

My "Workbench"

There has been a request for a picture of my workspace, so now that I have one, I thought I'd share it here too. (To be honest, this is after I had tidied up). See that orchid? I  am finally able to get them to re-bloom. I'm pretty good at growing things but up until about a year ago I was not in tune with the orchids. I have one little spot in my house that has the right light and doesn't have drafts and they are very happy there. When one starts to bloom, I can move it where I want until it is finished, and then it goes back to its happy place to get ready to flower again. Now that I have finally made them happy, I have a hard time not buying them when I see a new color or form that I love.
